Dear Minister Hogan   In our previous communiqués to your predecessor in September 2009 and December 2010, we called for the development of a new public procurement policy with strongly weighted environmental sustainability criteria.  We set out that a Green Public Procurement (GPP) policy would be a key element in driving Ireland’s potential as a competitive, low carbon economy and cautioned that GPP was of strategic importance, requiring joined up and integrated thinking.  A group of Irish business leaders have written to the new Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan T.D., to welcome the recent publication of the draft National Action Plan on Green Public Procurement (GPP).
